Kozova – Visit Attractions such as The Kozova Dairy, Churches and Taras Shevchenko Monument
The town of Kozova is located in the Ternopil Oblast, which is in the western parts of the Ukraine. The area that Kozova is situated in part of a historical region called Galicia, which is divided between Ukraine and Poland. Kozova lies near to a river called Koropets, which later forms a lake.
From 1939 to 1991 Kozova was part of the Union of Soviet Socialist Republic or the Soviet Union. The Soviet Union came to an end in 1991 after a period of forty-six years known as the Cold War. Before that, Kosova was part of Poland until 1772 and from there onwards it was part of Austria until 1918.
Kozova is the administrative center of Kozivskyi Raion, which is a district in the Ternopilska Oblast. Today there are about five thousand native Galician Ukrainians living in Kozova. There are few, if any, Jews, Russians and Poles living in Kozova because of the atrocities that took place in Kosova during World War Two.
There are several attractions one can see while visiting Kozova, including the monument to Taras Shevchenko, a well-known writer and poet, which is located in the main square. The Ukrainian Greek Catholic and Ukrainian Orthodox church are two beautiful churches that make for an interesting visit. Other attractions in Kozova are the old town cemetery, the town lake and the Kozova Dairy where fifty tons of milk are processed every day. Kozova is rich in Ukrainian history and culture and is well worth a visit.
