    The city of Melitopol has an approximate population of 200,000 residents, and is located in the Zaporizhia Oblast (Zaporizhzhya Oblast) of Ukraine. It is first mentioned in the year 1784 when it was founded as the village of Novo-Aleksandrovka by Prince Potemkim.
