  • Ivano-Frankivsk was honoring OUN members

November 17, 2010 Ivano-Frankivsk city, Ukraine, was honoring shot members of OUN. Near the monument to OUN members there was memorial service and a short honor assembly held. The assembly was attended by veterans of the Brotherhood UPA Carpathians, eyewitnesses of events, government officials and the public, local scolars. Memorial service was held by clerics of traditional Ukrainian Churches.

From the history of the events that had happened on this place 67 years ago the audience was addressed by researcher of those tragic events, Peter Arsenych and witnesses. On this day in 1943 German occupants executed 27 young people, members of OUN (Organisation of Ukrainian Nationalists). Later executions continued in other areas of the city and region. Witnesses remember how bravely kept the Ukrainian Insurgents. "None of them asked for mercy, not one was crying, only asked mext generations to gain the Ukrainian state" - they were saying in one voice.
