Famous Ukrainian Singers

Ukrainian musical variety is conditionally divided into two types: Honored Artists of Ukraine or singers who have long been performing on the stage and appreciated by the older generation of Ukrainians and new musical performers who are just beginning their careers but are already successful and loved by the younger people.

The singers, who have been listened to by several generations, who are known and loved, whose songs are performed during the feasts are Ruslana, Verka Serdyuchka, Alexander Ponomarev, Ani Lorak, Irina Bilyk, Natalia Mogilevskaya, Sofia Rotaru, Nina Matvienko etc.

According to the songs of Sofia Rotaru and Nina Matvienko, for example, you can learn folk art.

While Nina Matvienko sings old folk songs in a divine voice, goosebumps are running through the body. Her music is full of feelings. The singer herself, being a patriot, performs her music exclusively in Ukrainian, and her concerts are always accompanied by national decorations and Ukrainian costumes.

Meanwhile, Sophia Rotaru’s songs are equal to the anthem of Ukraine, they are performed in films and not a single national holiday passes without them. The beauty of the voice of Sofia Rotaru fascinates. At the age of 24 she received the title of National Artist of Ukraine, however, the singer performs in other countries of the former Soviet Union and receives recognition and enthusiasm from the audience.

Verka Serdyuchka is a comic character. A man dressed as a woman looks funny itself but her songs are the peak of joy. Their sense is simple – to enjoy life and the music is just for entertainment and dancing. There are no weddings or birthdays without her songs and they are definitely on the top list for karaoke lovers.

Ruslana is the winner of Eurovision in 2004, and the German media have recognized her song “Wild Dances” as the best song of contest ever. She performs special music with loud drums and belligerent outcries. In arranging her own compositions, the singer uses the sounds of a trembita – the national musical instrument of the Ukrainian highlanders, which adds to her songs a special sound.

Ani Lorak, Irina Bilyk, Natalia Mogilevskaya and Alexander Ponomarev sing songs about love, sensitive and tender, but they also have fun dance songs in their repertoire. Their music was listened to and is listened to nowadays, since, for example, Natalia Mogilevskaya and Ani Lorak are trying to keep up with the times and release new songs to be up-to-date with the youth culture.

Of course, singers who began their careers in the last century find it difficult to compete with contemporary singers and musical groups.
