Ukraine and Istanbul - Part 4

In July, 2011, Pat and I flew to Kiev, Ukraine, and boarded the Viking Lomonosov for a 12-day cruise on the Dnieper River to the Black Sea; then we flew to Istanbul, Turkey, for four days. In Part 4 we visit Sevastopol (pronounced sev us TOE pul), formerly a closed Soviet port city where only navy and other authorized people were allowed in. We tour the Khan Palace, built in 1519, and see the many different architectural styles within the complex, including the courthouse, harem and mosques, then stroll the beautifully landscaped grounds. Sevastopol was also the scene of the "charge of the light brigade."
