The pictures of the undeground monastery(12century) in Stradch,Страдч, (Lviv region, Ukraine) and the cave monastery(16century) in Krekhiv,Крехів (Lviv region). Now they are places of physical and spiritual healing. The monastery in Stradch was second after the Kiev-Pechersk Lavra monastery in Ukraine underground in Kievan Rus' (Kyivan) and Galicia-Volyn (Halytsko-Volyn)principality.It was stored at a high mountain on the left bank of the river near the village Vereschytsa. Mentioned in the Galicia-Volyn chronicle from 1242 as "Cave Domazhyrova". Archaeological research found that the monastery consisted of incoming gallery (length ca. 40 m), moves the total length of 270 m and a few cells, which are placed at a depth of approx. 20 m. At the top of the mountain there was a fortified hill-fort. The monastery ceased to exist approx. 14 cent. In our time preserved many legends about the monastery, the monks destroy the Mongol Tatars. The monastery in Krekhiv was established in the 16th century by two monks from the Kyiv Pechersk Lavra, Joel and Silvester, who settled in nearby caves. Around 1612 or 1618 the owner of Zhovkva, Stanisław Żółkiewski offered the monks land to build their monastery, later surrounded with fortifications during the second half of the 17th century to defend it from roaming Tatar hordes. In the 18th century the monasteries prosperity rose and wooden buildings were replaced with stone ones which stand there today. At the beginning of the 19th century ...
