New bi-alphabetic signs in the Kyiv/Kiev metro, preparing for the EURO 2012 football tournament [03:53]
As the last underground trains one late evening in March 2012 run through a Kyiv/Kiev metro station, workers prepare new bi-alphabetic signs to replace the old single alphabet Cyrillic signs hanging on the walls of the underground station. The new signs are easy readable but the totally lack the beauty and patina of the industrial era Soviet they replace, a shame really. On the new signs, the names of the stations are merely transliterated from Ukrainian Cyrillic into English Latin. Frustrating, the lack of translation (eg. Zoloty Vorota translates into Golden Gate) leaves visitors without command of Ukrainian without any hint of the meaning of the names. With no real help from this awkward Ukrainian-English, transparency is supposedly provided by a unique hotel room style 3 digit code number assigned to each station with big ugly numbers on the signs. But no one can explain where to obtain the code breaker! Minus 3 stars for yet another typical "solution" in Ukraine, where the workers struggle to find the right drill for the rawplugs to fit the signs.

NIGHT OF FIRE around Europe (August 2010) [03:30]
My friend Laura and I wanted to do an Inter-rail around Northern Europe, but I wanted it to be more special... Sorry about the quality, my camara is kinda old. Places we visited: Munich, Cologne, Kahl Main and Berlin in Germany; Copenhagen (Denmark); Oslo and the Fjords in Norway; Stockholm (Sweden); Helsinki (Finland), Tallinn (Estonia); and finaly I visited Kiev (Ukraine) without Laura. We have lived an awesome experience meeting people from Couchurfing and enjoying the countries we visited. I totally recomend living an experience like this. We are actually thinking about repeating this summer ^^ Thanks for watching!!

Улыбаются в начале видео! :) К сожалению, есть сбой в видео: снова какой-то казак сделал замечание, что здесь мол снимать нельзя. Видео потому переконструировано из двух частей. Как в 2009 и 2010 годах, так и в этом году в престольный праздник Успения Пресвятой Богородицы в Бахчисарайском Успенском монастыре кобзарь Украины и России Василий Жданкин выступил на площади перед монастырем. 28 августа 2011 г. В этом году ему подпевала его другая дочь, с прекрасным голосом - Анастасия. Southern Railway (Ukrainian Pіvdenna zalіznitsya) - one of the oldest railways of the Russian Empire (1869) and one of the major roads of today's Ukraine. The original name of the road (1869-1895) - Kursk - Kharkov - Azov. In 1895, the Kursk - Kharkov - Azov road combined with Lozovo - Sevastopol (1874-1895) and Dzhankoy - Feodosia (1892-1895) and became known as the Kursk - Odessa - Sevastopol. January 1, 1907 merger of offices held Kursk - Odessa - Sevastopol and Kharkiv-Nicholas (1870-1907) railway in one division - the Southern Railways. In 1934 the line became known as the Southern Railway. The railway network of the road is located on the north-east of Ukraine. It stretches over 3000 km, developed length of the main ways of over 4000 km of geographical location and configuration of areas and sections of the road gives it a great transit value. The road provides a transport service in the region with the mining industry, engineering industry and agriculture - are the six areas with a population of 20 million people. The railroad serves more than 1000 industrial and 2000 businesses. The structure of the traffic has industrial and agricultural character. Transit traffic is up about 60% of the total freight traffic. Southern Railway communicates economic regions in the CIS main areas - North-Crimea-Caucasus.
