Das Optina-Pustyn-Kloster, offiziell Svyato-Vvedenskaya Optinskaya Pustyn (Hl.-Optina-Einsiedelei zu Ehren der Mariä Einführung in den Tempel) ist ein Mönchskloster in der Nähe von Koselsk und war im 19. Jahrhundert das bedeutendste geistliche Zentrum der Russischen Orthodoxen Kirche. Das Kloster wurde berühmt für die von ihm ausgehende mönchische Erneuerungsbewegung in Russland, die auf der Hesychasmus Tradition beruhte, die im 18. Jahrhundert weitgehend in Vergessenheit geraten war. Geschichte Es ist nicht bekannt, wann die Einsiedelei gegründet wurde. Als Kloster besteht Optina mindestens seit dem 16. Jahrhundert. Es liegt etwa 130 km von Moskau entfernt. Im 18. In Optina fanden seine Werke ein neues „Hauptquartier", und von dort verbreitete sich seine Spiritualität in der hesychastischen Tradition über ganz Russland. The Optina Hermitage (Russian: Оптина пустынь, Optina Pustyn) is an Eastern Orthodox monastery for men near Kozelsk in Russia. In the 19th century, the Optina was the most important spiritual center of the Russian Orthodox Church and served as the model for several other monasteries, including the nearby Shamordino Convent. It was particularly renowned as the center of Russian staretsdom. It is not clear when the monastery was established. Its name is popularly derived from the Russian word for "living together". This may be explained by the fact that nuns were allowed into this cloister prior to 1504. Most of the monastery buildings were erected at the turn of the 18th and 19th centuries, when the monastery was being renovated as a centre of Russian staretsdom. In 1821, a hermitage for startsy was established 400 metres away from the monastery. The startsy attracted crowds of devout Christians to Kozelsk. Among others, Optina Pustyn was visited by Fyodor Dostoevsky, Vasily Zhukovsky, Nikolai Gogol, Ivan Turgenev, and Vasily Rozanov. Leo Tolstoy also visited the monastery, although he didn't approve of the staretsdom. The cloister boasted a rich library, collected with a help from the Slavophile Kireyevsky brothers, both buried within the monastery walls (photo).
