Museum Of The Great Patriotic War - Kiev, Kyiv, Ukraine [01:02]
The Musuem of the Great Patriotic War in Kiev is a memorial complex commemorating the German-Soviet war between 1941 and 1945. It is dominated by a giant titanium statue, the Mother Motherland/Rodina Mat (0:24). Other features include: An eternal flame (0:33) An underpass with sculptures depicting Kiev's defence and liberation (0:14) A monument depicting the 1943 Battle of the Dnieper (0:31) 2 tanks tied together to symbolise peace (0:29) A display of Soviet aircraft, missiles, tanks, and boats (0:39) The museum is located just south of the Caves Monastery (Pechersk Lavra).

CONSTANT, PRECISE, ETERNAL PLACE Located on the right bank of the Tysa river, stele & geodetic sign symbolize the geographical center of Europe. The words in latin are engraved there, which in the Ukrainian translation by academician N. Tarasov mean: constant, precise, eternal place. The centre of Europe was determined very precisely with a special apparatus, with the dial of meridians & parallels in 1887. Determination of the center of Europe by specialists of the Austro-Hungarian empire, which at that time occupied great territory in the central Europe, emphasizes the historical value of this symbol. ПОСТІЙНЕ ТОЧНЕ ВІЧНЕ МІСЦЕ Розміщені поруч, на правому березі Тиси, стелла і геодезичний знак символізують географічний центр Європи. На знакові латиною викарбуваний напис, який в перекладі академіка Н.Тарасова на Українську мову означає: постійне, точне, вічне місце. дуже точно, із спеціальним апаратом, який виготовлений в Австрії і Угорщині, з шкалою мерідіанів і паралелей, встановлений центр європи. 1887 визначення центру європи фахівцями Австро-Угорської імперії, яка на той час займала величезну територію у Центральніц Європі, підкреслює історичну цінність цього символу.
