It was a part of a secret plan to seize the fortess by Turks. "Amazing things are told about this land. The local citizens are firmly convinced that on the mountain, above the wide lake, called a firth, there is a special fortress. Its walls are of yellow stones, they are impregnable for enemy arrows and troops, because they were bewitched by the Polovets shaman, who was a powerful magician..."
