Offering great Attractions such as Trajan's Wall and the Podil'ski Tovtry National Park

The Khmelnytskyi Oblast is located in western Ukraine, with its administrative center, the city of Khmelnytskyi, lying on the banks of the Southern Buh River, around 340 kilometers from Ukraine's capital city, Kiev. It is a beautiful part of the country with at least 120 rivers and tributaries running through it, and an estimated 1,858 ponds, lakes and reservoirs scattered over the landscape.

As a well-watered region, Khmelnytskyi Oblast is covered in lush vegetation and forests, providing habitats for a variety of birds and animals. The Khmelnytskyi Oblast incorporates a portion of the vast Podil'ski Tovtry National Environmental Park established in 1996 by the President of Ukraine at the time, Leonid Kuchma, with a view to preserving the natural landscape of the Podolia region. The natural treasures of this environmental park include more than 1,700 different types of flora and 217 different types of fauna.

In addition to its natural wonders, Podolia is historically significant, as it is believed that human habitation of the area goes back to the beginning of the Neolithic period (9500BC). Remnants of what has come to be known as Trajan’s Wall are found in Khmelnytskyi Oblast, as well as Kamenets-Podolskiy Oblast and Novaya Ushitsa Oblast. There is some controversy as to who in fact built this defensive fortification, with the most popular theory being that it was built by the Roman’s in the time of Trajan’s reign (98-117 AD), hence the name. However, some scholars believe that it was built by Byzantines during the 10th and 11th centuries. Either way there is no denying the historical value of these remains found in the Khmelnytskyi Oblast and neighboring regions.

I would be interested in learning more about the Trajan's Wall in Khelnytskyi Oblast and how it relates to the Trajan's Walls in Moldava, Romania and Ukraine between Moldova and the Black Sea.
