Visiting Ukraine and would like to know some Ukrainians for advice etc.

Hi there,

My name is Liam and I'm going to the Ukraine at the beginning of February. Mainly I will be visiting Kiev to see a Ukrainian friend but I'm pretty flexible. It will be the first time that I'll have been in the country and I would like to see the sights and would like to hear if there is anywhere else I should go to whilst there. I'm from Ireland and am travelling by train there and so its going to take me a crazy amount of time. I travel from Eastern Slovakia across the Uktraine to Kiev and then back and I'm just wondering are there cities that I really shouldn't be missing along the way. I'm expecting to it be quite an experience - especially as I speak no Russian or Ukrainian! Anyway, I'd like to hear from a few locals just to get to know about the place, things to see and all that - and just basically to get to chat to some Ukrainians.

I lived in Ukraine for a number of years. Check your itinerary to see if you are passing near L'viv. It is in the westernmost portion near the Polish border. It is worth seeing. Enjoy yourself.

If you like the Nature, mountains, etc. - Carpatian mountains. If you like cities, Lviv, of course, John are right.
