TSign,
Well I guess you are just not going to admit that you were just hasty in your response. One of the good things about this board is that it shows not just how many posts a person has made but also how many times that a thread has been viewed. The vast majority of the people here both love the Ukraine and its people. Strange that 91 of them viewed my first response without jumping on it like you did. But then, maybe they had also read any number of the many other posts that I had previously made and knew my feeling about the country and its people, and knew that I had in fact been there. No need to apologize. Hold your ground son, that will surely gain you respect !!! Len |

Lenire,
Being new here might explain something. I haven't read all your post indeed. Nevertheless, I still think a serious question had been put up. Actually I am curious about it too, but I will get back on that later. If there is a vast majority of people who love Ukraine and its people why didn't he get an answer? You have been there more then once, so you must know. Or anyone else of this board. I will try to read some of your earlier posting Lenire. Tsign [feel more welcome already...] |

TSign,
Why did he not receive a response. Well, mostly because the people who are here that love the Ukraine and its people, treat with contempt those that think that the country and its women are merely toys for the stupid western idiot with a few dollars in his pocket. It is so easy to take advantage of a people who are struggling to improve their life and the idiot question that was asked by a newcomer to the board was quite obviolusly asked by one of those "playboys" with just a couple of dollars to spend. You indicated that you had been there, so if you think his question deserves a constructed response then go for it. He will not get help from me. Hense the response I made that "ONLY" you jumped on. Lenire,
Guess I am the one to blame here as I was the only one who jumped on your message. Maybe you are right Lenire, mr Q8 or so is one of these guys throwing dollars for obvious reasons. But are you sure? Am I really a fool because of my reply? Could it be your judgement was wrong on both postings? Anyway, let's bury the hatchet. I will bow my head... I guess bringing up a question about nightlife is a no no at this point... ![]() I have to say something about your remark. Do you really think it is easy to take advantage of people who are struggling to improve their life? I was struck by the mentality and resilience of the people [students mostly] I have met. I am sure a lot of students from Western society wouldn't survive for a month in the same conditions. Money isn't always the key. Might be something to think about for our friend. Tsign |

I do not have the eloquence of Annafox but I have enjoyed visits to areas of Ukraine including Kiev.
Surely from the reactions that you became aware of on your visit is was obvious that numerous people of Ukraine are attracted to, and desire the life of their western friends. Of course they are still a warm and friendly people. But advantage is taken by some who dangle the "good life" of the west in front of them. Maybe I am a moron because I believe that as a nation and a people they do not get the respect they deserve from some (not all) of their western visitors. Len |
