I recently applied for and received a Ukraine tourist visa. I asked for a one month visa but they gave me a six month visa. For any Ukraine visa over three months, an Hiv test is supposed to be required. I didn't submit one, because I requested just one month. I am only going to be there two weeks so did not need six months, but they gave it to me anyway.

Will I be asked to produce an Hiv certificate when I get to the border (i will be arriving overland from Russia)? Is there any chance of this happening? I am assuming that the test is supposedly needed when you apply for the visa, not at the border, but I'd appreciate hearing from anyone who knows more about this. Can I be denied entry because I have a six month visa and no Hiv certificate?

Should I go back to the consulate and ask them to correct the visa to the one month time period I requested?

Thanks for help with this.

Who informed you that HIV test results are mandatory to visit Ukraine? They must be mistaken. I have never been asked for this documentation. FWIW, I have both a 6 month tourist visa and a 3 year multi entry business visa.

Gee what an arsehole. I have never taken a Hiv test, White Halo, I just wanted to know if I need to. It says right on the damn visa application that this is required for visas over three months.

Exclamation ronbas

I don't think you have anything to worry about. On the Russia/Ukraine border the customs won't care, so long as you have the visa and you declared all the stuff, you'll be just fine.

As to White-Halo, he is an old member here... pain in the arse so to say. He comes and goes, don't pay attention to him.

Ronbas,

I've just got back from Ukraine. In and out in the last five weeks and no one asked me for a HIV cert.
I think someone is just having you on about that requirement.

Hi....I'm planing on going to Ukraine in a short while for a visit, and I have never heard about this HIV..test but is important that you have all your documents OK you should not have any problems......I have been in Russia twice for a visit to the beautiful city of St. Petersburg. My staying at this city was only positive...nice people.
