I will be driving to Ukraine in September and I know that I must have insurance for my car. Can I get it at the Ukrainian border at Uzhgorod?

Hi I have driven many times from England to Ukraine, I have my own insurance from England called the "Green Card" that is for driving abroad, which is exceptable in Ukraine, not that they know what they are reading on the customs post!!!!!
On vital advice dont drive during the night or you may be hi-jacked,other wise have a safe trip

My UK Insurance allows me to drive in all EU countries, plus Hungary, Czech Republic and Slovakia, but does not cover me for driving in Ukraine. I understand that they probably don't know what they are reading at the border crossing, but it might be my luck to find someone who can read Englich! Plus I would prefer to have insurance cover. When was the last time you drove to Ukraine and what route did you take?

Hi Rogerew
Got back home from my holiday yesterday,no did not go to Ukraine this year,as my relatives came here!
So, I travel by car from Ostend, germany, Poland, bypass Warsaw, Lublin then into Ukraine thro Rava-Ruska, which is 60 miles from Lviv, the boarder crossing at this point is not long to wait about 2 hours. They take all details of your car on computer and sign the car out when you leave. There is very little unleaded petrol there, but rest o.k. As for insurance your broker should find you one who will insure for Eastern Europe as long as it is not war zone.It is about 900 from England to Lviv, use a Visa card for petrol thro' Europe at each petrol station then your not seen off! Take log reg of car with you, and international driving licence.Well hope this infor is a help and also take car break insurance I have Green Flag!! All the best and safe journey.Shaslyva doroha!!!!!
