Seeking info for Kiev's stay

Hello!

I live in Nice, South of France and plan to visit Ukraine
this summer from 15/08 to 31/08 especially in Kiev and
Sebastopol.

Can you give me some info:
- where and how I could find an accomodation (cheap appart's rental, or room's rental in a ukrainian's family house) near city center, metro station
- could I find a guide speaking french ? and where ?
- are there some place to going out: bars, cafes, nightclub, places for dancing salsa (not the place tourists
go, but where ukrainian people go)

How to rent a luxury apartment

The Kyiv hotel scene may be quickly evolving, but it▓s safe to say there remains a lack of good‑quality, affordable options.

So one practical alternative is the private apartments that are available to rent through agencies.

Most rental agencies in the Kyiv offer fully furnished, Euro‑remont apartments that come with amenities such as televisions, VCRs, microwaves and washing machines. Satellite TV and air conditioning are also available in many flats.

Apartment Rentals Kyiv and Kyiv Rent are two private firms that together maintain about 150 luxury and budget apartments. Most are located in the downtown area.

The daily rate for a one‑ or two‑room apartment in the center ranges from $50 to $80 per person. An apartment on the Left Bank or other less‑central districts can be as low as $30‑$40 per night. Monthly rental rates range from $300 to $700 for a one‑room apartment and from $800 to $3,700 for a two‑room place.

Depending on the apartment and length of stay, the rental may also include weekly cleaning service, paid utilities and local phone calls. Additional services such as a cook, shopping, more extra cleaning and interpreting can also be arranged for a higher fee.

Both agencies maintain English‑language Web sites, which include photos of the apartments, addresses, amenities offered, rates and booking and deposit information. Apartment can be arranged online or by telephone.

Depending on the duration of the rental both Apartment Rental Kyiv and Kyiv Rental require a deposit at the time of booking. The full rent should then be paid in cash immediately upon receiving the key.

Agencies also warn that accommodation can be scarce during the summer tourist season and on major holidays, and they advise reserving apartments early. Kyiv For those looking for apartments outside the capital, Kyiv Rent has listings in other cities, such as Odessa and towns in Crimea. Check the Web site for information.
