Hi there, it is me again asking for further advice.

I am wishing to travel to Chernihiv for a few days during my trip to the Ukraine and was wondering if anybody had any information regarding accommodation in this city. I have searched the web and have only found one hotel, but I am sure that in a city of 300,000 there should be more than one.
Also, what is recommended most to travel from Kyiv to Chernihiv, train or taxi? Is there a big difference, will you be ripped off, is it only the different cost that would determine which one to take, and with which mode of transport do you get to see the most without stopping?

Unfortunately (or fortunately) I am one that prefers to be prepared for anything, well as far as possible. As this is also my first trip to the Ukraine I do not want to leave too much to chance, and I think that most of you might agree. Thanks for your replies and help.

Talking

Chernihiv.

Can you please share with us what exactly is the purpose? I expect that you have a "friend" there...If so, she might assist you better than anyone else, because she lives there. I can definetly be wrong in my theory, but if you have only one "friend" in Chernihiv, I would recomend to send her tickets to Kiyv to meet you there...

Chernihiv is a small Ukrainian city, where English is not spoken much. I really can not tell you a lot about it. I'm sure that there is more than one hotel there, It is also easy to understand why the existing hotels of Chernihiv will not have web sites on...Chernihiv is not a high attraction place for foreign tourists, so there is really no purpse in doing the web-thing

I remember long time ago taking a bus to Chernihiv. It was about 4 hours ride. Tickets must be pretty cheap.

Taking a taxi is another option, though it must be organized beforehand.

Thumbs up Steve

Steve, dear... there is nothing to worry. Of course there are different people as everywhere... but if you will take a train or bus - anyway it is not so scarry...
As for my opinion - you should take a bus. Comfortable bus - Autolux called - and it will be cheap enough and fast and comfortable and secure. I can find the schedule for you if you want.
if you like - we can talk in ICQ or by phone.. as you'd like... And I can give you some usefull advices maybe.
Or write me e-mail.. hrt_no1@yahoo.com
if you decide to take a taxi - maybe better to take a car.
You can get some discounts.
Have a nice trip! Ukraine is very nice
