Hi!
I will be flying to Donetsk via Kyiv this week and wondered if anyone has any info about airport procedure. The connecting flight from Borispol is only 1hr 40 mins after the scheduled arrival time at Kyiv and I would like to be prepared to save any additional delays. I am flying with Ukrainian International Airlines all the way. Do they transfer the baggage between planes, or is it as I expect, another check-in proceedure? Is there a seperate internal flights terminal? As my knowledge of Russian and Ukrainian is minimal, am I likely to encounter problems on the domestic leg of the flight, or is English used to some extent? Any assistance would be appreciated. Cheers! David. |

Hi there! Well, I've been in Borispol several times but I've never had to take an internal flight. Though, still I have some tips for you!
Borispol is a tiny airport. It's hard to get lost! You'll probably be brought in by the bus. When you get there, before going through passport control you as a foreigner supposed to buy some Ukrainian health insuranse(I think that's what it is called), which costs a very small amount of money, something like 5$ but they won't let you in without it. It's in a special lane at the booth to your right just as you enter the airport from the bus. It's just opposite to the passport controll. Buy it before going to the passport controll, unless you want to learn about it there. ![]() When you get to the passport controll, you'll see several lines. They usually have about 4 open. The one for non Ukrainian citizens is usually the shortest. So you're lucky there! ![]() English is used. If you'll have a question you can find somebody to help you out. I do not know wheter they transfer the luggage between the planes. If they do that'll be nice. I think that there is only one terminal. In the worst case you'll have to wait for your lagguge and go with it through the customs. The place where you pick up luggage(pardon my lack of English here :x) is just next to the passport controll, you can actually see it, straight ahead, while they'll be checking your visa. Than you pick it up and straight to the customs with declaration. By the way, will you take your PC or video camera? I always declare that. You also have to declare amount of 1000$ or above when going into Ukraine. In the waiting area there is a bunch of screens in Englis/Ukrainian about the flights Have a nice flight!
