Extreme and therapy can be combined in Lumshory
Lumshory village is known for its extreme bathing in mineral water. The place is located in Perechyn Region of Transcarpathia Oblas’t. So, don't miss the opportunity to get there if you are in Uzhgorod. The distance is about 50km. Of course, after visiting the ruins of Nevytsky Castle, which is on the way.
Surrounded by beech and pine forests, the first hydropathic in Lumshory was founded in 1600. The locals filled the wooden barrels with mineral water and hot rocks. Later, two cast iron tubs were produced at the neighboring plant to heat the water before pouring it into barrels. The tubs got lost in WW1 but one of them was found in the forest by the river in 1970, another is located in Vienna Museum. Local citizens invite tourists to have a hydrogen sulfide bath which has a positive effect on nerves, bones and joints. The local hutsuls-devils burn the wood under the tub. People get into only after the water reaches 36,6C. When you are in, the water is heated to 40-45C. 7 people can relax and enjoy the hell atmosphere in the tub simultaneously , as the tankage is 1000 liters. Contrast bathing is strongly recommended, so you can jump into the river when it gets too hot. The most extreme experience can be got in winter, when the outside temperature is 10C below zero. Lumshory is a great place for nature-lovers, as the countryside is fantastic.
