You can catch one of those marshrutkas/shared minibus from Chernivtsi to Kamyenets-Podilsky (regional center town of appx 100k) and visit an incredible castle that dates back to 12th century. It's about a two hr ride, but well worth the trip.
Several yrs ago I attended a Cossack Festival there. Fabulous exp, especially w/the castle as a back drop. http://upload.wikimedia.org/wikipedi...82007%29-2.JPG

Hannia, I took school-children to a 2-day Khotyn/K-Podilsky tour 3 years ago, with several stops on our way, including the river Zbruch. In their essay about their experiences everyone wrote that the hotel was the best and to be remembered for years (a second-rate hostel in bad need of repair)!. Probably it was the first time in their life that they experienced some independence - or what? Or probably this hotel was the most romantic place Skinman is asking about???
