Here follows the comprehensive information of the importation of motor vehicles into Ukraine which I believe is still current (Happy Reading)
:I. Terms 1.1. This technology is used during the implementation of border and customs control at border crossing points through the state (hereinafter - the points) and is aimed at improving the level of cooperation between border and customs authorities, reducing the time of border and customs control of their personal belongings, vehicles tools and products. 1.2. This technology defines the features of bodies of border and customs authorities of certain control procedures and the components (verification of documents, inspection of vehicles, customs control, customs clearance) in the framework of certain laws of competence and authority. This content control procedures defined by laws of Ukraine. 1.3. All security procedures undertaken by officials from the departments of the state border and customs authorities in the framework of this technology should not affect the effectiveness of prevention of unlawful activities in the points. 1.4. For border control, customs control vehicles at crossings for truck combination defined individual lanes. 1.4.1. Bodies of the state border and customs authorities cooperate among themselves to enforce the legislation of Ukraine the persons who import vehicles in Ukraine. III. Features of the implementation of border and customs control at the "red corridor"

V. Make a check of the passage of border and customs control vehicles
5.1. VII. Working at the frontier point

Thanks for posting this as I am very interested in the cost of importing a vehicle permanently from the EU into Ukraine and I know its complicated.
Unfortunately this is a rather poor quality English translation (most likely done electronically rather than by a human). Do you have a link to the original in Russian or Ukrainian text? If so please provide it. My wife may be able to make better sense of it prior to translation. Cheers. |

No I'm sorry that was sent to me by a friend of a friend who converted it into English knowing that I do not understand Ukrainian. I was thinking about bringing a car into Ukraine but the concensus of opinion is don't, too much hassle and potential for bribery at the border. I also believe that if you enter with a car, you cannot leave Ukraine without it (if I got sick and needed to return quickly to the UK). You would need to import it into the Ukraine permanently to get this liability removed from your passport. That would cost a disproportionate amount of cash in import tax.

Some folks there that I know have purchased cars in Europe, had them dismantled then ship the parts to Ukraine. There they are re-assembled and titled w/o paying the 30 odd % import duties.
My stepson is getting ready to buy a car now and he was looking at getting a Korean auto. He said that they are imported incomplete! In Ukraine they add tires, wheels and mufflers. It's alot cheaper import duties that way. |
