Entry Help Please

I now live in Kharkov (From US) I flew into Borispol and went straight through no customs, etc. I received n stamp. I have been in Kharkov for over a week and I went to get a Western Union from the States. The woman looked at my passport and started shouting at me in Russian (I do not speak Russian). Apparently I needed a "Stamp" in my passport? Does anyone know how I get this?

Not sure what you would have to do. I'm not sure if its too big of a deal but still shocked you saw no customs. Did you fill out an imigration card and was that stamped by anyone?

You might want to try calling the Ministry of Foreign Affairs.

There is an office in Kharkiv, (61022, м. Харк╕в, вул. Сумська, 39, каб. 99-101, Укра╖на) but not sure if there are any English speakers there. They also have an email, but again, its a regional office, not sure how often its checked/English speakers answer mfa_kh@mfa.gov.ua.

Main hotline might give you more luck. Again, not sure if English speakers exist. (+38 044) 238-15-50. Main email: hotline@mfa.gov.ua

Good luck and let us know what happened.

Hello,

As a frequent traveller to Ukraine from UK, I am very surprised at your not encountering customs/passport control at Borispol airport. This is simply not possible coming through the usual International terminal (B).

Entering Ukraine or Russia by an unauthorised route is an offence and sooner or later this will cause you a problem. Certainly when you try to leave the country the customs will notice the missing stamp.

As a British citizen I would contact my embassy straight away. As a US citizen I would urge you to contact the US embassy now, by telephone, and explain the situation. There is a US embassy in Kiev.

I'd be really interested to know exactly how you missed the customs at the airport. Did you also loose your bags? Please tell us more ;-)

Cheers
