Duty and Vat charges for Jewelry?

I'm going to Ukraine Saturday and have read about going through customs with jewelry as gifts and can't seem to find out exactly what are the duty and vat charges...I've seen anywhere from 50 to 300%???
Could someone please tell me what are the actual costs to bring in jewelry to Ukraine...

Thanks

After Visit to Ukraine

Well I learned that the customs folks in Kiev don't really care about any of the vat charges or much of anything except how much cash you carry...
I went through customs without any other questions or troubles! I just put my bags through the xray machine and off I went....

I did have a little trouble leaving Kharkov when the customs gentleman asked for US cash. Kind of a shakedown...

Ukraine was a great place to visit and the people were very gratious towards someone who spoke no Russian or Ukrainian....

I'm currently looking at the possibility of moving to Ukraine....

The customs and immi is no problem usless the entire suitcase is filled to bursting levels.. Just go thru the green line. Not the red line. IF by some extreme off chance they ask,,, Tell them the jewellry is yours for your use.
We've never had a problem.. Don't sweat it.
