I thought this information may be useful for all those who are going to visit Poltava

Every country has a pearl in its national cuisine which is the integral part of world cuisine.

Japan, for example, has contributed to world cuisine its famous fish dish sushi, Italy – pizza and macaroni, Poltava galushkasRussia – cabbage soup, China – rice cakes, Ukraine – borsch, varenyky and, of course, Poltava galushkas.

One of aspects, thanks to which Poltava is known all over Ukraine and also in CIS, is truly Poltava masterpiece of culinary art - Poltava galushkas.

Poltava galushkas by the way of preparation resemble dumplings and world-known varenyky, although differ much from their ‘flour colleagues’.

In Poltava more than ten types of galushkas are prepared: galushkas from pork, galushkas with a liver,

galushkas with cracklings etc.

Moreover, in Poltava a monument to Poltava Galushka is set, which symbolizes family sufficiency and prosperity, and which is presented with a large bowl with 12 galushkas inside and a spoon on special pedestal.
