Vikhor to challenge Tiozzo for the WBA Cruiserweight Title!

Tiozzo expecting the expected?
WBA cruiserweight champ Fabrice Tiozzo, 31, from France looks to be a solid favorite against unheralded Ukrainian Valery Vihor. Comparing records: Tiozzo comes in with 42-1 slate, with Vihor's standing at 30-7-4. Virgil Hill, the only man to defeat Tiozzo, in April of 1993, was to be the challenger and the fourth defense for the Frenchman since willing the title from Nate Miller in November of 1997. Vihor comes into the title challenge as the #2 WBA cruiserweight contender.

The fight will take place this Saturday- April 8th.

Tiozzo stops Vikhor in sixth round!

WBA cruiserweight champion Fabrice Tiozzo, 42-1 (28 KOs), knocked down Valery Vikhor in the first round and again in the sixth when referee Joe Cortez stepped in to stop the bloodied Vikhor from absorbing additional punishment. The one-sided contest was Tiozzo's fourth successful title defense.


Too bad Vikor lost.

There's always next time for him I suppose but then again the guy he fought is excellent and a worthy champion.
