Canada had a five-minute power play at the end of the game when USA’s Justin Mercier was called for a match penalty after checking Canada’s Colton Yellowhorn from behind. Yellowhorn was taken off the ice on a stretcher. All indications are that Yellowhorn will be fine. The injury cast a somber mood on the arena as Canada, already drained from trying to come back from a 4-1 deficit, understandably couldn’t score on the lengthy man advantage. It was nearly the only point during the game that Canada didn’t apply pressure to the U.S. net.
