Hey HG, Forest,

How is revenue divided in English football? Does Man U for example have to share revenue with smaller market teams? Or do you keep 100% of your revenue. What about the players, have they ever gone on strike?

I was reading about the potential baseball strike, so I was curious about the business side of football...

The domestic TV deal betwwen the 20 premiership clubs and R. Murdoch's Sky TV shares the money so each club receives about £15m, I think. This is all that is shared.
Most of the clubs pull in about £40m per year when you add on money from spectators, sponsorship, and merchandising.
Manchester United will expect a turnover of about £130m to £150m, due to European Champions League (about £25m), huge worldwide merchandising and lucrative sponsorship (about £50m) and spectators (about £40m),
This season Manchester United, Arsenal, and Liverpool will try to win the premiership, Newcastle United, Leeds United and Chelsea will be happy to get in the top 4 (for the European Champions League), The other 14 just want to avoid relegation (bottom 3) which will mean losing at least £27m a year.
I don't think that there has been a strike over wages since the 60's.

Hello Uylesses my team Forest were in the premiership a few years ago but were relegated, the first year of relegation there is a cushion then you are on your own, consequently forest were nearly made bankrupt, they had to unload all the high earning players and start off with more or less the youth team, lucky enough for us we had developed a good youth policy and now lie third in the league and hopefully promotion back into the big money My wife worked in the office at Forest a few years ago and I can tell you no other Buisness is run like a football club, its a joke
