If Sokol Kyiv joins the CHL...
Do you think this will help grow hockey in Ukraine/Kiev? With the dwindling state hockey is at in Ukraine, I see this an olive branch that could hopefully regenerate some interest in spite of the government cutting local funding for the team and arena.

football is the most popular sport in Ukraine, my guess is Sokol kyiv will probably bring some interest. Well, it can't do worse.

yes, you are correct, canada was on my mind, don't know why, i meant Ukraine.


Of the many different sports Ukraine plays, the major sport is football.

Ukraine has five levels of football. The strongest and most popular league is the Vyscha Liha (Top league), which is also known as the Ukrainian Premier League. The next league which is lower than the Vyscha Liha is called the Persha Liha or the Ukrainian First League. And the three lower leagues than the Persha Liha are the Druha Liha A, Druha Liha B, and Druha Liha C.

funny how in football the top league is the Vyscha Liha whereas in hockey, the Vyscha Liha is tier 2
