I may have come on too quick on you, but to me it still seems that im right

What i didnt want to happen is to have somebody come, get their answers, and not even come back.

At least by saying what i have said, i see that you did as a matter of fact come back

Vitaiu - Welcome in Ukrainian

I think we beat that into the ground. Moving on......

So, tell me about yourself. When did you come to the US? How long were you in Ukraine? By the way, I'm a female.

Well, the point of the assignment is to have a conversation. Yes, there were some questions that needed to be answered but the main point is to learn about Ukrainian culture.

I havent been in Ukraine for a while, but when i was there, i would take my garbage up a small hill where large metal bin were located.

- Are the metal bins like dumpsters in the US?

Department stores, not really, no. Markets, definatly, also, food tasting is ussually done(at markets).

- Would you say that the majority of stores are department stores or markets? Is there a certain place that one is seen more than the other? Like markets in the country and department store in the city?

I know that in the West is Greek-Orthadox people people there wanted to seperate from the other nations who were taking over their's a while ago.

- As I've been doing my research, I have noticed that Ukraine is usually separated by East and West especially when I was looking in to Nazi rule in Ukraine. Would you say that the West has more of a European culture and the West has more of a Russian culture or is the country misrepresented in that aspect?

I really appreciate your help. I feel that I would give a fairer representation if I understood the country better.

Yes, i would say so. I am not sure how it is collected from there on, and maybe in other places it is taken out by trucks from each house. A lot has changes i hear.

There are not many Department stores in the sence of franchises. Regular stores where you can buy goods from are usually located on major streets. Markets are usually in sertain places. I lived in Lviv (West of Ukraine). And i recall only about 4 markets. Then of course once in a while you see a few elderly people selling their crops. Please note that i didnt really get out of Lviv too far. I have uploaded a few pics of a recent trip of my fathers to Ukraine. Just a few months ago.

What you have probably seen is the Orange Revolution. Many russian speakers or russians who moved you Ukraine deside to go to the eastern part since it is closer to russia. Most true Ukrainians really dislike that, like me. As far as your question goes i guess you mean the East has more of a russia culture... That is true. We hate that, (speaking for people who feel like me), but figure its better to an extent that they are not living with us. This is very similar to hispanics comming to America and speaking their language. True Americans (as i saw on 30 Days(a tv show)) would rather live near people who honor America even if they immigrated. Same with us.

Sorry that these images are small, but if i made them bigger, then it would ruin tha layout of the forum.
These are pictures of a big suppermarket in Ukraine today

Hello,

Just to give an opinion and to say some important data that shouldn't be forgotten. Don't forget Spanish has been spoken in North America (Mexico and USA) much before English immigrants arrived and don't forget more than half the current territory of the USA was part of the Spanish Empire and the third part was Mexican until the war after which many Spanish speakers remained there.

On the other hand, when you say America... what are you referring at? America goes from the Artic to Cape of Hornos so we, all who have been born in this great gorgeous and wonderful continent, are American otherwise it would be like calling European only those from the European Union, and Europe is much more than the EU because there is also the wonderful, beautiful Ukraine among other countries.

Greetings,

César
