Thumbs up

Ania, as you haven't mentioned your possible subject of interest, I wouldn't say that ICU-Kyiv (http://icu.ratman.kiev.ua/) is the best university in Ukraine for YOU. However, since it is an American-type liberal arts institution with most of the classes taught in English, you can easily transfer your credits to most of the American colleges and universities or even European schools whenever you decide that Business Administration or Management Information Systems are not the right majors for you; so, it might be a good idea to consider ICU as one of your choices in Ukraine.

What is quite unique about ICU in the Ukrainian educational setting, it is not corrupt in terms of the admissions decisions and if you're really passing your entrance exam among the top 20, 30 and next 30 percent, you get an 80, 50 and 20-percent scholarship respectivly on your tuition, plus there is a new initiative now by ICU graduates and some corporate sponsors on establishing at least 5 to 7 merit-based scholarships which would be available starting next academic year.

As for the schools in the US, you have a better chance of getting a full scholarship if you score excellently on your TOEFL and SAT and apply to really big rich schools like Stanford, Harvard, MIT, Dartmouth, Cornell, Columbia, Brown, Brandeis or smaller rich colleges like Colby, Bates, Franklin&Marshall, Macalester, Amherst, etc. (Some of the former ICU students are currently studying at some of those institutions).

There are some programs under which you can get some funding for your education in Europe but those projects are mostly for graduate students.

Anyhow, please feel free to visit the ICU website and feel free to contact me on romanm@theglobe.com if you have any particular questions. In fact, I did my four years at ICU-Kyiv and now I am doing my graduate studies in Belgium and must say that ICU experience was quite sound.

Regards,
Roman
