Who wrote the bible??

***********When I was five years old I remember a lot of people asking that question - who wrote the bible - parents, uncles, aunts.*************

Did you get any definite and coherent answer to that question?

************The people who were aganst the bible the most had everything good going for them in life.************ Because they had a good grip of the reality and had a clear direction in their lives.

**************Unfortunately, it takes suffering and hardships before people seek God. *************As I mentioned in my earlier post it is only human to seek false comforts instead of solving problems directly.

************When an airplane is about to crash, before any of the people have time to think they instinctively cry out to God, even the atheists.************* So they cry out to him and what happens? THE PLANE CRASHES KILLING EVERYBODY ON BOARD! Where's the almighty god to pevent that crash, I wonder? If there is a 1 month old baby on board, when did it have time to sin to deserve to be killed in the crash without the all-loving god even attempting to save it?

*************I don't know who wrote the bible, but there's a thousand times more wisdom in just the one sentence - Love Your Neighbour as Yourself - than in all of the tv shows written in the last forty years combined. ************* Nobody ever said here that the TV shows were actually wise. Your qoute from the bible is nothing but a basic common sense rule of survival and social living paraphrased from the simple "treat others as you want to be treated yourself". Don't tell me that it was the author of the bible, whoever he was, that came up with it.

I could go on and tear the rest of your message apart, but I think one paragraph is enough. I'm sorry, Yoda, your arguments do not hold water.

My best

Luba

Yoda,

You have a tormented mind. Let me tell you why I say that.
You referred to an airplane about to crash, and how people turn to prayer. You are totally wrong.

I have been part of a crew of a couple of aircraft with major emergencies. Instead of praying, we excuted the proper emrgency proceedures and here I am Live and in Color.

On the other hand, the SOB co-pilot Egypt Air prayed all the way to impact with the water. Not only did he pray, but he prevented the captain from recovering from the dive. So much for prayer being the answer.

Prayer is a halucination, thinking that somebody is listening to your pitiful a.s.s.

And by the way, you don't expect me to believe there is a god just because someone thinks about it in the time of distress, do you? If a child comes to you saying there us a monster outside his/her room, you don't actually believe it just because he/she says so, do you? You know that monsters don't lurk under the bed and in dark corners of children's rooms, right?

How old are you, yoda? Your reasoning sounds like you are around 15 years old? 14- 21?

Luba,

I remember taking some tests back in high school. I scored high in abstract reasoning, but was not so hot in mechanical reasoning. It may be that you are one of those people that are just completely useless when it comes to anything spiritual. It could be right there in front of your nose, but you can't see it.

But if a person chooses, for whatever reason to cover his eyes, that doesn't mean that the light doesn't exist. It just means there's not much anyone can do to persuade the person it isn't dark.

No one ever told me who wrote the bible, but more importantly, I wonder why some people were so against the bible. It's not logical to show a murder so many times on television, especially for kids. Television has thrown God out, because they are only concerned with profits. I would have thought, according to you that anyone who throws God out of the picture would be wise. Doctors are another one that has thrown God out. They do their tests, and they use scientific instruments to measure scientific things, and they prescribe drugs a lot. And the whole medical industry is a complete joke. I would have thought, according to you, that it would be perfect, because they place no value on anything spiritual. Just physical. Yet the drugs they prescribe are killing hundreds of thousands of people each year. And the people, who have successfully thrown God out of their lives are sicker than ever before. Another scientific study - a good conscience is good for your health. Why would that be.

It's not a common sense rule of survival and social living to be good to your neighbour. If that was the case 50% of all marriages would not end in divorce. If that was the case Israel wouldn't be shooting Palestinians, and Palestinians blowing up Israelis. They do it because they are using human logic. Human logic says to go and teach the other person a lesson. It actually feels good to teach someone else a lesson. The bible actually says to Love Your enemy. That's not logical, but in the long run, it's a good way of doing things.

People are so against the bible, and all it says is to do everything good. Don't kill. Don't cheat. Don't lie. Don't be jealous. Don't hate. Be patient. Be kind. Help others. What is wrong with that?

Bill,

I think a bunch of different people wrote the bible. But more important than who wrote it, how high of a standard do you think people should have in living their life. Is it okay for people to start approaching the level of a monkey, and just run around and do anything that feels good, or should they try to attain a higher level of honesty, kindness, morals, etc.

Yoda,

I think humanity should strive for the highest level of Honesty, Morality, Kindness, etc, etc.

This can be achieved only if humanity is free from the Influence and Dependence of Drugs, Alcohol and Religion.

I say this for the last time, so please pay attention. Human Kindness, Ethics, Morality, Creativity had more Influence on RELIGION than the other way around. It seems that Religion is always associated with some of the most EVIL actions on the part of Humanity. The monkeys are OK, I am proud to be their descendent.

Yoda,

What do you have against monkey behaviour? In what way are they worse than humans?
