The only reason I ever went to an Orthodox church is because my family took me there.
Also, I never said that I wanted others to think for me and find me proof of whether a god exists or not, I simply don't care whether there's proof or not, I can not see a bigger waste of time. You quickly assume very personal things of people, why? What is your purpose? Irina

Irina I found this site to be interesting because i know nothing about Ukraine. My father was born in Canada, and his parents came from Ukraine when they were 18 years old, so he never told me anything about the country that I feel a part of, but also no part of it at all. Sometimes i agree with you, that debating about God is a waste of time. But then you said Ukraine needs money for education and other things, and Rick north said the two main religions in ukraine are Mormons and Ukranian Orthodox. Lets suppose, for a minute, that there really is a God. Now what if both Mormon and Orthodox churches are phoney baloney. The result would probably be a country that never has enough money for education and other important things because most of the people are concentrating on the things their church tells them to do, which are all wrong. Just curious - why do you go back 3 or 4 times a year? I definately want to go there eventually. where would you suggest is the best place? odessa? Kiev? |

Yes, Ukraine's main religion is Ukrainian Orthodox, and Rick was just joking about the Mormons
Unfortunately, Ukraine gets a lot of foreigners trying to convert locals to their religion while hiding under the name of charity.I love Ukraine, the reason I go is because I just can't stay away, the place is so beautiful... I have so many favorite places in Ukraine, it's difficult to remember them all... Odessa, Kiev, Lviv, Poltava, Carpathian Mountains, Bottanical Gardens in Crimea...listing them all would take an hour ![]() So, you are not sure of where exactly in Ukraine your family came from? It would be a very good idea for you to research, maby you still have some family in Ukraine, it would be a fantastic idea to visit them and expand your horizons. Believe me, once I get married and have kids one day, I'll make sure that my family is very closely connected with my homeland, there is nothing better in the world than having as many close family members as possible and REALLY KNOWING where you came from. If you figure out the location of your parent's former place of living in Ukraine and need more help, let me know. Irina P.S. On the subject of god, let's agree to disagree please, I respect that you believe, so please respect my choice as well, thanx.

Yoda, dude what evidence are you talking about when you say that there is more in favor of god? I think there is no evidence whatsoever. Moreover, you are very narrow-minded, as soon as you see that there is a person who does not believe in god you call that person lazy, I suppose that your high school in Canada taught you only how to listen to some sports stars that happen to believe in god, wow!!!
I go around and every time I see a kid I tell him/her, you know what there is no god, remember it because it is important, yoda wants you to know there is one... but be ready! hehehehe... |

Okay, it's a deal. if I need more information, I'll ask you, and I won't criticize you about your beliefs. But remember, if I do choose to go to Ukraine, it's possible that all the good words you said about Ukraine played an important part in swaying my decision. If I really enjoy it there, then I might say, ' things happen for a reason.' I might even have to thank V-G for calling me dumb. |

Hey V-G, Why do you write God with a small letter 'g' but the initial in your own name is capitalized? I'll answer your question, but it'll take me a few days. I want to make sure not to make any mistakes, so nobody calls me dumb. yoda |
