Deborah,

Regarding your question whether or not the apostles taught the doctrine of salvation by grace.

1. It is my belief that we must take our doctrine from the Bible alone, but only after a careful study. Far too many people in this day and age are ignorant of the fact that the Old Testament saints are not at one with us in the method or ways of salvation. The saints of old knew less, just as there are some today who know very little about being saved, but those saints of the Old Testament knew enough to be saved according to the Bible!

2. Today, if you are a born-again Christian, you are in a loose fellowship with this ancient company of believers wherin is included all of the Old Testament saints. So let it be said that just as they were not able to attain their salvation by works, so too we are not able to buy ours by the same toiling. For as they were also children of God by faith, so must we be.

3. If those who are a lost generation today continue to stand outside the New Covenant which gives one eternal life, our spiritual toiling will have failed to a shameful degree.

This is all the sermon that you will get from me.

Salvation By Faith

Bible Doesn't Say We Are Saved by Faith Alone.

There are no verses that prove that faith is necessary for Salvation. Also there are no passage saying we are saved by "faith only," or that one's faith in Christ is the sole condition for salvation. For we ought to already know that we are not saved without a baptism of repentance or without due obedience to that which brings a remission of sin? None of the passages in the New Testament so state that by faith alone are you saved. The accepted teaching is that we are saved by faith, but it ought not be the teaching that we are saved by faith alone without the due obedience to the baptism of repentance for the remission of sin.

Using the same reasoning, one is able to find many verses that mention faith, but which do not mention repentance as is given early on in the Gospel of Mark wherin it is recommeded that there be a confession for the remission of one's sins. Shall it be concluded by us then that the idea of salvation by faith is unnecessary? We must say, "One should understand that to have a "saving faith" , you must repent of one's sinful ways and confess that they are not profitable." But how does one understand this? One must hold that repentance and confession are the catalysts of salvation, because there are many other passages that state that such is so.

I understand you must repent and be saived by faith (For by grace are ye saved through faith; and that not of yourselves: it is the gift of God, Eph 2:8), but what I was leading to is
FAITH IN WHOME?

-That is not true. One is not saved through faith. It must be understood that faith is but one aspect of salvation.

and that not of yourselves: it is the gift of God, Eph 2:8),

-I reject this Pauline (Pharisaical) addition as being wholly spurious.

but what I was leading to is
FAITH IN WHOME?

-Rather than using the word faith here, it is my choice to use the term belief as being a better label. We must believe in the Living God who is ever present in our lives.

This is too vague. What God? We are living in the time of many Gods.

Deborah,

Religion 101?

I believe in the God who prepared Adam and Eve for a Divine Mission upon earth. It is the same God of the true believers among the ancient Israelites; the same God to which the Melchizedek priesthood is dedicated as servants forever; the same God of the Royal Davidian line; the same God who brought forth His Son upon the earth as a final attempt to save all mankind. This same God is ever-living and ever-present.

Religion 101.
