Nonson,
I thinks you is right. I found this iin the OED, I think it's funny how they mention education with debate... I guess it's been banned in Afghanistan ![]() Debate (a) serious discussion of a subject in which people take part Education is the current focus of public debate. In a formal debate, two people speak for a subject and two speak against it. Love the NZman ![]()

Zman,
I am most impressed by the linkage you created. It is possibly a new tool that holds promise for the current diplomatic posturing by Muslims. Actually, a Muslim can only debate the Qur'an. Its called tafsir. When the Qur'an answers them they are made Imams. Go figure. Nonson- |

Catch that plane
Jet Set,
You need to go ahead and find a new place to play like a place that can truly believe your opinion has weight. Irinka is the best moderator here and you feel the need to bash her in defence of Kaz who has skirted question after question in hopes to avoid the truth or to answer questions. Your English Utopia mentality is ever-present and will always be a handicap effect on your ability to learn as you prescibe(a weaker than water) typical english personna myth...lol "outlaw" JoseyWales |

Evil is done in the name of Good
The plight of women in Pakistan today may be compared to the plight of women in christian countries during the middle ages. In those times religious zealots accused thousands of women of being withches. And these women they tortured and burned at the stake.
The Bible did not tell the christians to mistreat their women. And now the Koran does not tell the muslims to mistreat their women. Abuse of women that happened then and is happening now comes not from the Bible or from Koran, but from religious leaders who tell everyone how good christians or good muslims should behave. Unfortunately, women and men cannot participate on equal terms in either christian or muslim religions. And this inequality allows unscrupulous religious men to proclaim evil against women as good. Perhaps the Bible and the Koran are at fault in all of this not because they advocate abuse of women, but because they tell men to lead, and women to obey. On these terms women have no right to defend themselves against the hate of unscrupulous religious men. They must obey. |

Nikolai,
While it is true that books such as the Bible and Qur'an do play a significant role in motivating men to abuse women, they are not the sole reason for such repulsive behavior. I tend to credit their reprehensible conduct to their being of wholly un-inlightened minds. -Nonson- |
