The crimes you just mentioned aren't Christianity related. It would make as much sense to say they were done by muslims

Apparently, the driver of this argument between Mimi and others is a misunderstanding of what is a Christian and what is a Muslim. One can only assume that they are not members of these religions.

Only the criminal can tell us for sure what motivates him

No one can read another man's mind. We can only guess about what motivates people to commit crimes. But sane criminals know what their own motives are. And when they confess their crimes, they often tell the truth about what motivates them.

I think it is reasonable to believe islamic fundamentalists, when they say that they kill people in the name of their religion.

And I think it is also reasonable to believe Timothy McVeigh, when he said that he killed innocent civilians because of what happened to some christians in Waco, Texas.

Unfortunately, religious faith can and often does motivate people to commit crimes against each other.

People are not perfect beings. And they show their imperfections in religious faith as much as they do in any other human activity.

Many people use their religious faith to do good. But some use it to do evil.

I beg your pardon, isn't it safe to assume the only motivation for evil is EVIL?

Thumbs up

You are a very wise guy Nikolai. I just wish people would understand that it's not because a Muslim or Christian killed in the name of their religion that it means that their religion teaches that. I am a Muslim and i have never been taught that it was ok to kill for no reason. The prophet Muhammad said that an innocent being should never be killed in the name of Islam for the only reason that he might become a believer down the line.

[b] The Messenger of Allah (saas) said, "One who kills a non-Muslim person under protection (Arabic: dhimmi) will not even smell the fragrance of Paradise."

Whoever hurts a non-Muslim person under protection, I am his adversary, and I shall be an adversary to him on the Day of Resurrection

Question

Greetings Nikolai,

Correct me if I am wrong here Nikolai, but wasn't Timothy McVeigh (As I heard it) an Atheist who did't practice or claim any religion or (A) God?
Also was not his true intention to kill the people that he did because of what the US govt. (in his eyes and mind)stood for and not what they did in Waco, but in fact he used that as a stepping stone or excuse? I believe Ruby Ridge was mentioned here also but not 100% certain.

have a great one,
John
