The Real Face of Jesus

I was watching a program on the History channel yesterday where they released the look of Jesus. It was an all new program and I tried to find a good picture of what they came out with, but could not. Hopefully they email it to me. If i find better pictures I will post here.

Basically they used the Shroud (cloth used to cover Jesus) to recreate his entire body using the latest technology. It was a 2 hour long program but they only showed the image for a few seconds which was rather disappointing. However, it was cool. It's a 3D image and they first showed him with his eyes closed, and then they open. It was a little scary for a second.

Anyway, while watching the show, I tried to take pictures, but I was in a rush and its blurry. You can get the idea.

Not likely. As a member of a desert tribe, "Jesus" wouldn't look like a white-skinned, brunette European. He would look just like the natives of the desert there today.

Well, I have nothing to say on that. This image was created from the Shroud. The goal was to create a 3D figure, the Shroud can't tell the color of his skin.

According to the last legitimate carbon dating, the shroud dates back only to Middle Ages. The shroud is not 2000 yrs old and therefore there is no possibility for this to be Jesus Christ.

The scientific theory now holds that this is was just a man from the Middle Ages that had been crucified.

The show talked quite a bit about that. Even on the website they mention:

In 1988, scientists removed a swatch of the shroud for radiocarbon testing. Three independent laboratories concluded that the material originated between 1260 and 1390, leading some to deem it inauthentic. Since then, however, further studies have cast doubt on those results, suggesting that the shroud may indeed date back to the time of Jesus Christ’s life and death.

In March 2010, researchers unveiled a revolutionary radiocarbon dating method that could allow scientists to safely establish accurate ages for precious artifacts like the Shroud of Turin. Unlike traditional carbon dating, the new process does not require samples; instead, the entire object is exposed to an electrically charged gas that gently oxidizes its surface without causing damage. This means that, someday soon, the world may have a more precise estimate of the Shroud of Turin’s real age.

I won't try to convince anybody. But if you believe that Jesus was covered with the the Shroud of Turin, then this is how he would look. If you don't, then it's how an individual from some time ago looked like. Either way, interesting on my part.
