Greeting stevenal_73,
You pose two questions. One here and one in your topic starter. I will not try to answer the one asked here but instead address the topic starter. "If you commited suicide, would that be an unpardonable sin?" I will pose these questions to you and maybe you can answer your question by the answers you give here. Question: Does not man (in the here and now) have to ask for forgiveness to atone for his sins to be forgiven? Question: Is not murder / killing a sin? (I'm not implying if murder / killing is or is not forgivable here either.) Question: Can you ask for forgiveness (in the here and now) when you have committed suicide? (Remember your dead) Good luck, John [This message has been edited by observer58 (edited 08 July 2000).] |

Greetings John,
The question of Atonement is a good one. As you know the Jews, as part of their High Holidays set a day aside as the day of Atonement. They are required to go and make things right with those whom they have wronged. I would be thankful I you could point out to me where in the bible, Christians are called upon to do the same. Good Luck. |

In Christianity, a suicide is a sin. It is an interference with God's will. Well, too bad I am not really religious, but I do believe that it is a sin in front of those who care for you and who will grieve at the loss. [This message has been edited by olesya.p (edited 29 July 2000).] |

I think you all know this story.... But it touched me so deep that now I don't respect most of religions.
Well, the story, when the fashist came to one school and wanted to kill all children in a gas camera, they found out that the teacher was German, so they decided to leave him alive. But the teacher refused to save his life - he went to the gas camera with kids and was telling them stories untill last child was dead. He died - he commited suiside - he'll go to hell... So, next time someone religious tells me "you'll go to hell"; I tell him/her that maybe it's very nice in paradise, but I'd razer go with all those children who didn't have time to ask forgiveness for their sins. |

Hello , my friend...I am not an expert on religions but I don`t think the teacher really commited suicide...as I define it. Suicide is when someone gives up on life when things don`t go there way...I guess...justly or injustly. I think his action was selfless and honorable. How can a just God look down at such a selfless act based on honor.No...I do not think his decision warrants suicide or the consequences of suicide. He was quite brave and idealistic...a true humane thing to do. Steve out and this time I have to leave.

Greetings,
This subject alone can draw a vivid and deep comparison between faith and reality. Those dependent on faith, when faced with a crucial situation, one that might lead to suicide, must depend on faith for their answers if any. Those who live in the real world, can depend on their family, friends, neighbors, associates, even strangers to get help. The choice is yours. Regarding SIN. What is sin? Can sin be legal? Are all sins illegal? If you do something that is legal, but somebody considers it a SIN, are you going to jail? How can it be a sin if it's legal? Pretty complicated. I say let us be judged on on ability to abide by the LAW. All this other stuff, no thank's. |
