As many of you know, I am not a believer in God, but would like one question answered.

God is all powerful, all knowing, omnipotent and everything right?

Can God create a rock so heavy he cannot lift it?

If he can't then there is a limit to his powers, and if he can then he can't pick it up which would mean there is a limit to his powers as well. I was wondering what you all think about this.

Hey Edge,
Is is possible to not believe in God? I tried that thought at too many times in my life. Then came to one realization, why do I try to tangle with Someone who is all that.
I laid on the ground, on a dark hill, and stared at the stars, and after a few hours, came to know how far away from understanding His power I truly am. I am not diminished by this thought, in fact, rather encouraged. After 30 years of running, mostly away, He grabbed me by the back of the neck, almost literally, and said, Hey son, we'll be doing it this way from now on. Funny how some try to sell others on how much they should join in. I see God, sitting on His throne, nearly rolling off with laughter, His Son, by His right knee, holding Him up, while the Dad is saying, "...and they thought they chose Me, I chose them..." This small paraphrase is captured in John 15. Amazing how evangeling and prostelitizing we might try, maybe God wants to do the picking and choosing. And just maybe, if we lived our lives that someone might wish to copy us, then we might have something to offer. Edge, always wonder when He will chose you. A time, a place, when you least expect it.
I wish you well, Travalour.1

Greetings travolour1,
When God talks to you, what language does she speak? I want to tell you something. In Hungary nobody could join the Communist Party. It was by invitation only. In other words they chose you, based on your education
level and background. Is this the way God functions also? The Communist Myth did not last long. I do not think yours will either.

Good Luck

Hi, Edge - I'm coming from the opposite direction, in that I am a committed christian believer and I recognise your first statements as true, in that God IS all the things you say are said of Him. The prayer of Jeremiah in the middle of ch. 32 of his prophesy gives us a good base upon which to view how we should see and understand God. However - if this is correct (and don't let friend Bill lead you astray- He's got one BIG business meeting coming up one day) - then - as Travalour rightly says - He's interested in US, not making rocks. On the one hand I believe God when He tells me that He is my creator (along with the entire universe the edge of which no telescope has yet found) and on the other hand He tells me "I will never leave you or forsake you" / "How great is the love the father has lavished on us, that we should be called 'children of God' - for that is what we are"......things that are personal and eternal and (if all is read and appreciated in context) fit right into my life where I am and show me how I can correctly fit into God's eternal plan for my life.

I've had 48 years of knowing God's favour / correction / guidance, etc., and 48 years of opportunity to worship Him FOR WHO HE IS and I would not want it any other way. When you've got the right boss, the job seems so much easier and the direction clearer.

May I humbly suggest you don't ask questions of God about material things - ask Him to show Himself to you personally. If the question is sincere - so will be the response, He never fails an opportunity like that.

ANDREW

salam Andrew. Glad to see a change of focus on your part. Did reality take another bite? Anyway, love the "up-coming business meeting" for Mr. Quick and Easy. That's about it, too. Wonder how many demerits is on his tote board? _____________________________________________ Don't take The Edge too literal. He's a beliver who just lacks the manhood to admit it. _____________________________________________ As for the others, we must remember that God uses the things that are not, to reduce to nothing the things that are. (I Cor. 1:28). Also, He select what is low and despised in the world to deliver the WORD to the world. _____________________________________________ Ain't it strange that all of the absolutely essential things and the lesser important things are hid? Peace
