I was recently in Ukraine and have seen how the churches are hard at workin saving the Ukraine. That's right, saving Ukraine. What has held Ukraine together is their belief in GOD; not bolsheviks, the NKVD, the KGB, or Nazi's or communists could destroy that. Now I see people flocking back to the churches, and churches are working within their communties, helping hospitals and orphanges. We should all be encouraged to pray for the church leaders in Ukraine, and support them anyway we can.

Dear ukiman.
What are you talking about? Kuchma builds big, huge Russian Orthodox churches and some people don't have any food to eat. I mean, wouldn't it be better to try to repare economy or at least language and folk, rather than build those monsters on peoples bones? |

Dear Yulia,
I was not aware of churches being built in Ukraine. I was not commenting on that either. I was talking about the effort that is going there now. People are coming back to Christianity, back to Christ because it is evident that nothing else works, and no one else can provide for them. I agree with you that building huge temples or monumnets is wrong while people starve and the sick die; I travel to Ukraine on missions work and see the sufferring, particularly the children. I see parents leaving their children at hospitals or orphanages because they can't feed them themselves. I saw one year olds weighing 8-pounds.I saw operations done with alost no anesthesia. More money should be directed to hospitals, orpanages and clinics now. The churches provide many of these services that the government refuses to support. Dear ukiman. I don't really think that to do something good you must be religious, remember religion it's just the religion, it can inspire people on good and bad things just as something else. But of course I'm sure you're a good person in heart, because you care.

Dear Yulia,
I was not implying that you have to be religious or even be member of a church to do something good. Quite the opposite; alot of "religious" people and churches tend to turn their heads when they see a need. I don't approve religious leaders living lavishly or building beautiful buildings when they are surrounded by poverty and hunger. I did though, notice that there are many churches, particularly in western Ukraine, that work hand-in-hand with the local people. They create jobs, provide food and medical treatment. they work closely with other charities to help the people. This is what I meant when I said that the churches are the place to come too now. These churches are providing the things that the government should be providing. |
