Yet another example of why there is NO God!

Saudi court punishes rape victim with 200 lashes

Or if I am wrong and God does exist - he is one twisted f**k. Allowing someone to suffer by being gang raped and then being punished for it too!

One of you religious folks, please do give it your best try and explain the "big plan" god has for her?

And I mean, seriously, there is actually a book out there that guides a nation in the name of god to convict this poor girl. Just how much more screwed up does it need to get for people to finally realize that there can't possibly be a god, at least not the way most religions seem to paint him/her.

God is dead people or never existed...

Firstly(and this will be controversial)the god that the Saudis follow under their muslim religion is I believe not the one true God and they believe that women are "inferior". If you read The Bible which is the word of The one true God you will read that Jesus said to the accusers of a prostitute who was about to be stoned to death, let he who has not sinned cast the first stone, they all went away, He then said to the prostitue, I don`t condemn you either now go and sin no more.. so you see true Christianity is a Faith of Love and real forgiveness.. and I apologise because I am writing this NOT as a religious person which you asked to reply, I am writing this as a Faithful person.. I don`t like religion.. BUT I love Faith.

Very well Nick... but where is YOUR god when SHE needs him? Or is she not worthy of his help because she was raised not a Christian?

I am very happy to hear you say that you are not "religious" but rather a person who has faith - I too have faith, but in people rather than some mythical creature. It hurts me that neither your faith nor mine can do anything about this tragic situation.

Edit:

There are many really bad things happening in the world every minute but some just don't sit right with me and this is one of them. Some I let fly by me and don't feel the sorrow or pain of those individuals (plane crashed, war victims and so on...). And then there will be one case that just gets you.

I don't know how this girl is going to live through this ordeal, rape victims are usually traumatized for the rest of their lives and this one is worst of them all. It is highly unlikely that she'll adopt Christianity or start believing in YOUR god, Nick. The fact that such unfair situations do exist in the world tells me that there can't possibly be any kind of kind, all loving and helpful god that you seem to believe. How can it possibly be?

The only explanation I have is that you guys believe in god to shelter yourself from worry - once you play it in your head "God has a plan for this girl, she'll be fine" - thats it! You are free to go on with your life. Well, I don't need any god for that, I can just say... none of my business. And the sad truth is, a month or a year from now - we all will have long forgotten about this girl!

Yes you are right there are some really bad things happening in the world and it seems that when anything bad happens people are very quick to ask where was God??.. but I would have to ask where were the people with their faith?? people expect Gods` protection without wanting to give up anything wordly. in John 3 v5 Jesus says "I tell you The Truth, no one can enter the kingdom of God unless he is born of water and The Spirit" and in verse 7 " You must be born again".. I would also say that the men were filled with an evil spirit and were being controlled by that spirit.. and I don`t believe in God excistence I know God exists as well a I know I exist He is my Father and I am His child and I can talk with Him at any time.

Nick, unfortunately your way of putting it can justify just about anything. It shows that you have been brain-washed (for lack of a better term) into believing that there is only one religion that is "right". You say you do not believe in religion but you seem to have a difficult time understanding that Muslims are just like YOU - they too believe with all they have that their faith is the right one and their religion is the only one that should exist. Just like Christianity during crusades - historian Raymond of Agiles described the capture of Jerusalem by the Crusaders in 1099:
Quote:
Some of our men cut off the heads of their enemies; others shot them with arrows, so that they fell from the towers; others tortured them longer by casting them into the flames. Piles of heads, hands and feet were to be seen in the streets of the city. It was necessary to pick one's way over the bodies of men and horses. But these were small matters compared to what happened at the temple of Solomon, a place where religious services ware ordinarily chanted. What happened there? If I tell the truth, it will exceed your powers of belief. So let it suffice to say this much at least, that in the temple and portico of Solomon, men rode in blood up to their knees and bridle reins.
Believe what you want Nick, know what you want, but do not claim for a second that your religion is better than others - with the exception of a few minor details all religions are based on the same concept.

With that in mind, I tell you that I do not "rush" to blame and ask "where is God" for this girl. I simply ask, given her situation, doesn't it seem rather unfair that she should receive such punishment simply because some chose to believe a "god" book and adopt it into the law system? If there is God in the world, shouldn't he have some mercy for this poor girl?

Lastly, Christians usually enjoy quoting the Bible and always tell me "God has a plan bla bla bla" - what possibly plan does he have for this girl?

Cheers,
V-G

P.S. You know, therefore you exist. God, on the other hand - you are only guessing that he exists.

Firstly, yes I know that I exist and I also know that God exists.. without starting another topic, can you honestly say that we are all here by pure accident, that the world as wonderful as it is was created by a big bang??.. rather than a long discussion take a look at my Church web site and it explains all that I know is true..

Chippenham Churches: Bethel Pentecostal Church Chippenham

Yes you are right Christians do and indeed should enjoy quoting The Bible as it is Gods word, however just because someone can quote The Bible it doesn`t always mean they are Christian.. satan can quote The Bible but he certainly isn`t a Christian, and if it is quoted in a judgemental way the person quoting it hasn`t understood the fundamentals of Christianity, anyway take a look at the web site and the links.

Gods` Blessings Nick.
