You can't just post some opinion and then expect me to take it at face value and not start a new discussion... I will try to be as brief as I can:
1. I can come to terms with the idea that god created us - but what makes you think he isn't dead already? Just because we don't know (yet!) how we came to be, why should we create an image of a god? A while back people "knew" that Earth was flat because they saw it was flat and the same way you now "know" there is god! WOW! 2. I can come to terms with the idea that god is alive and amongst us, but what makes you think he is all good and forgiving? 3. I can come to terms that god is all loving and forgiving and lives amongst us, but how such a loving, carrying and forgiving god of yours allows this torture on the poor girl is beyond me! (finally back to the original subject of the thread) Nick, you are dodging the subject here and I think I know why. I tend to bring out the worst in religious people, likely because I rarely give you guys hope that I can be persuaded. And in my honest opinion - all of you religious people are on a mission to convert everyone else into being just as naive and "brain washed" by some priests to supposedly "go to heaven" - a bunch of rubbish. As soon as you guys realize that there is no chance of me converting based on a few silly quotes of a silly book by silly believers - you start hating me. Then you hate yourself because you start seeing me as a test to your faith. My question is, why not cut to the chase and just say that I am right and you are wrong - you are guessing that god exists just as much as I am guessing that aliens are on this planet already.Believing in god because you can't explain a few things in life is just as naive as believing in Santa because you don't know your parents put the gifts under the tree. You know it, I know it... why are you even arguing? |

Firstly whatever your views and however strongly you put them and however much you disagree with me I will NOT hate you ..
In The Bible you may know about Thomas who wouldn`t believe that Jesus was ressurected until he could put his hand into His wounds and when he did he said now I believe.. Jesus said that "Because you have seen me, you have believed, blessed are those who have not seen and yet have believed" .. You know I have seen and heard about so many Miracles that I have absolutely NO doubt about Gods` current existence and indeed existence for eternity, however as you have not seen miracles and are aware of the horror in the World today I can understand you doubts and mistrust especially when you consider that Thomas had spent 3 years with Jesus and still had doubts in His ressurection. Let me ask you a question.. If you were on a bridge which you knew had collapsed a little further on would you let other vehicles drive past you knowing they were driving to certain death or would you do everything possible to try and stop them from disaster??

First let me answer your question about the bridge, just because I don't believe in god does not mean I am not human and have no feeling of responsibility to help others. Of course I would do everything I can to stop the traffic - BUT, I fail to see the relevance here.
Now I would like to address the near death experiences: Quote:

My point about the bridge is that you know the bridge is down and the other drivers don`t so you must tell them.. they either trust you and turn around or they carry on as they are to certain death... I know that Heaven and hell exist so I am telling you in the hope you will trust me and turn around because if you carry on you will end up in hell.. God has given us free will so the choice really is yours.. God loves you more than you know and He really wants you to make the right chioce...

Nick, please don't get me wrong, I do trust you. But the bridge example will only work if you've been there and saw the bridge and came back to warn me. Unfortunately that is not the case, you are just as blind about the situation as I am and you choose to firmly believe that there is a broken bridge ahead just because you were told so by people who wanted you to behave a certain way. You caved in without questioning the truthfulness of their statements.
You posted a quote that paraphrased states - one should blindly believe in Jesus and God and he/she will be blessed. Don't you think there is a very good reason why it was worded this way? The reason is simple, to get you to believe in something that doesn't exist because it would be harder to make you believe if you had the right to ask to be shown. This quote simply ensures that you DO NOT ask questions and just blindly follow what you are told. Do you mean to tell me that not a single time in your life you had even the slightest bit of curiosity and doubt? That you never for a second wondered if it all were true? I did believe in god one time in my life, but then I was small and was told to believe. Once I grew up, talked to people from all over the world who had believed in all kinds of religions it came to me - how can it be? All religions are so similar! If there is just one god then a large portion of the world will go to hell. In fact, most of those people will be only guilty of being born in the wrong place. Bottom line, it didn't make sense. Just like it doesn't make sense that god is all-loving and fair etc. The start of this thread shows that if he exists he doesn't give a **** about this girl, just like he doesn't care about casualties of war, torture etc. The world isn't a terrible place, but it isn't' fair either. God is a myth, just like Santa, only god is for adults. |

Firstly I thank you for your trust.. and it is because of that that I feel almost duty bound to preach The TRUE Gospel to you, you say about other religions(not Faiths) but how many of them speak of Love and Faith, how many talk of Miracles and forgiveness?? how many are legalistic and full of almost impossible rules and regulations?? I do know that nothing I say will make you believe, belief has come from within, all I can do is convey the truth of The Gospel of Jesus Christ and trust that The Holy Spirit will convict you, which I know will happen at some point in your life because I do pray for you and it is written that whatever I pray for in Faith will be given.. normally I don`t like articles that are cut and pasted, however read this from our senior Pastor Dr Stephen Houston:-
Death Facts Death is certain but the Bible speaks about untimely death! Make a personal reflection about this..... Very interesting, read until the end..... It is written in the Bible (Galatians 6:7): "Be not deceived; God is not mocked: for whatsoever a man soweth, that shall he also reap." Here are some men and women who mocked God : John Lennon (Singer): Some years before, during his interview with an American Magazine, he said: "Christianity will end, it will disappear. I do not have to argue about that. I am certain. Jesus was ok, but his subjects were too simple, Today we are more famous than Him" (1966). Lennon, after saying that the Beatles were more famous than Jesus Christ, was shot six times. Tancredo Neves (President of Brazil ): During the Presidential campaign, he said if he got 500,000 votes from his party, not even God would remove him from Presidency. Sure he got the votes, but he got sick a day before being made President, then he died. Cazuza (Bi-sexual Brazilian composer, singer and poet): During A show in Canecio (Rio de Janeiro), while smoking his cigarette, he puffed out some smoke into the air and said: "God, that's for you." He died at age of 32 of AIDS in a horrible manner. The man who built the Titanic : After the construction of Titanic, a reporter asked him how safe the Titanic would be. With an ironic tone he said: "Not even God can sink it" The result: I think you all know what happened to the Titanic Marilyn Monroe (Actress) : She was visited by Billy Graham during a presentation of a show. He said the Spirit of God had sent him to preach to her. After hearing what the Preacher had to say, she said: "I don't need your Jesus". A week later she was found dead in her apartment. Bon Scott (Singer) : The ex-vocalist of the AC/DC. On one of his 1979 songs he sang: "Don't stop me, I'm going down all the way, down the highway to hell". On the 19th of February 1980, Bon Scott was found dead, he had been choked by his own vomit. Campinas (IN 2005) : In Campinas, Brazil, a group of friends, drunk, went to pick up a friend..... The mother accompanied her to the car and was so worried about the drunkenness of her friends and she said to the daughter holding her hand, who was already seated in the car: "My Daughter, Go With God And May He Protect You.." She responded: "Only If He (God) Travels In The Trunk, Cause Inside Here.....It's Already Full " Hours later, news came by that they had been involved in a fatal accident, everyone had died, the car could not be recognized what type of car it had been, but surprisingly, the trunk was intact. The police said there was no way the trunk could have remained intact. To their surprise, inside the trunk was a crate of eggs, none was broken . Christine Hewitt (Jamaican Journalist and entertainer) : said the Bible (Word of God) was the worst book ever written. In June 2006 she was found burnt beyond recognition in her motor vehicle Many more important people have forgotten that there is no other name that was given so much authority as the name of Jesus. Many have died, but only Jesus died and rose again, and he is still alive "Jesus"
