I am doing some research on U.S-Ukraine relations for a polysci class. I would be grateful for any Ukrainians (and friends of Ukrainians) to share any past and current views of the United States from Ukraine's perspective. Specifically, I am interested in political and cultural views, but feel free to express others as well!
Thanks K. Martinenko |

I am looking for a little bit of everything, whatever you can contribute would be great! Mostly, I would like opinions from Ukrainians because my class focuses on how different countries view the United States from a political and cultural perspective.
Hope that clarifies my expectations! Kindra |

There is a lot on Comparable human rights in the post under 'Ukrain ends the death penalty'
Alot of what you see here is from homesick Ukrainians in America and they complain alot about the things they are missing, and about hypocracy from America. Mainlt it is not very serious. There arn't many here from Ukrain itself. Zhena has gone missing ![]() Personally, I think it would be alot different if Yanks didn't think Ukies were Russians. And if any of the things in the UA national anthem came true that might change things alot too. |

Thanks for the input, Phillip. I visited Uzhgorod,Ukraine for three weeks as an exchange student and during that time I learned a lot about Ukrainian culture and ever since I have been searching for more info on Ukraine. I am American, but my great-grandfather was from Poltava,Ukraine, hence is why my last name is Martinenko--which is definately not American! I understand a lot of what you are saying, especially about "Yanks" thinking that Ukrainians are Russian. If only they knew! Although I am American, I feel I sort of have a "one-up" on most Americans because I do not carry the typical stereotypes which are associated with Ukraine. For one, most don't even know where Ukraine is let alone know what is going on there. If you have anything more you would like to contribute, I would appreciate it. This paper is due next Wednesday!!!

Martinko,
Don't waste your time here as most of the thinking is biased and not in a frame of euro-thought. Australians can be friendly but in the end they are a class to themselves which makes them awkwark in many ways. Hopefully Phill and his plunber friends find work and also they aspire to think. Rex xx |

Its nice to know that there are people like you to pipe up and speak for everyone else. I think that it would be kind to let people decide for themselves whether or not they have something to say. If you have no useful input, then don't respond. Plain and simple.
