Some days ago it was the top topic in Europe. In which way can this new defensive strategy influence the world politics?

It's more of the same old, same old, and it is destabilizing, expensive and impractical. The world has come to accept that the US will always find a way to keep its defense industries fully employed, no matter the cost to relationships and the danger to future generations.

It is recognized as dangerous, because it places a fig leaf over the real problem, nuclear proliferation. It suggests that reductions in nuclear forces can wait, as this "new technology" will make that moot.

It is dangerous, and regressive, and saner leaders recognize it as such. It invites misunderstandings between those in the nuclear "club," and those outside it.

I agree with you, and plus there is no possible danger from anywhere in the world to the U.S. - cold war is over, and new one isn't going to happen soon.

John,

As usual - cynical, but true...

Stas,

Be it good or bad, the US is the centre for stabilisation in the West. In a sense it is the West.

The threats to the US, I guess, include threats to its interests, but I don't suppose nuklear force would be an option.

It is definately not impossible to imagine.

So many countries have a nuclear arsenal these days it is worse then before, in that sense - Stas.
