Does anyone know if the bank accounts are frozen in Ukraine?

I wired some money to Simferopol, the PrivatBank, in November, and of course when I call there, they don't answer the phone. I don't know if my money got there, or if I can transfer it to the Privatbank in Russia.

Thanks for any help.

The central Bank has imposed limits on cash withdrawals and purchases of US dollars. This is to prevent a run on the banks.

As per Thomson Bankwatch, limitations on bank withdrawals in Ukraine

Ukraine's Central Bank has set limits on withdrawals from cash machines as part of a number of measures to preserve economic stability.

Limits are also being set on US dollar sales to companies and individuals and commercial banks have been told to end early deposit withdrawals.

Thanks for the info. I actually was able to talk to the manager on the phone today (no one answers the other numbers). I asked if anyone there spoke English, and he said "How can I help you?" Then I was transferred to another number, but got disconnected. (Surprise!) I tried several times after that, but no one answered the manager's phone now.

I will be happy if my money is there. I'm not that worried about it, IMHO I don't think whoever wins the re-election it will make much difference. Aren't they are both pretty closely tied to the oligarchs?

If you like Communism, you'll love President Hillary Clinton. She never met a dollar of "private capital" she didn't think was better off in her, I mean, in big brother's, hands.

Isn't there a law against someone as ugly as Yushchenko becoming president? I mean, he makes "El Gaupo" (The Handsome), look handsome.
