It seems to me our opposition leader Yuschenko flirts with Crimean Tatars for nothing. The Crimean Tatar people are fighting for its democratic majority in the parliament of Crimea for a long time. Certainly 8 Tatar deputies wouldn’t able to influence the decision-making process in such a way as to make it favorable for them. But it’s absolutely clear for everyone in Ukraine that the whole history of Crimean Tatars repatriation, which is also the history of their continued struggle for recognition as the people, with ensuring right to internal self-determination within the borders of today’s Ukraine, casts doubts on a positive solution of their problems. Nevertheless “Nasha Ukraina” block, headed by reformist ex-premier Victor Yuschenko, promises to improve Tatar’s positions in Ukraine’s parliament. How can’t you see the overall failure of all tricks, used by Yuschenko & Co.? He couldn’t enhance the chances of Tatars for their just and fair representation even in the executive bodies of lower level when he was in Ukraine’s government. So I’m sure he will forget about his promises as soon as he comes to power again. After all, Crimean Tatars will be next victims of Yuschenko’s electoral policy. The final results of his “activity”, I think, will be repressions and a threat of a new civil war between Kiev and Simferopol. Of course, they’ll have to address Turkey for help. And Ukraine will turn into new Kosovo.
