today's aspirations in Ukraine is only the stability of power
Since everything has broken in 1991 all the economy of UKRAINE fell down in ruins. Most factories and plants were robbed either by their own workers or by their patrons, who were in charge of those industries.
In 1991 -1995 it was some aspiration for better days in indepedent ukraine, but soon everybody has realized that there is not anybody to trust to but themselves. Most people in modern ukraine are not patriotic about their country. That is because modern ukraine present very little opportunities to its young generation and the olders ones are almost forgotten to nearly starvation by the governement. Still, althoug most of the people, pronounce the word indepedence with a bitter smile of irony - there are not too much people leaving the country now. Most of young people are tryuing to start their own business. We do not need to invent something new- it is often, that local business is just a copy of the western ones. The only success of the last 10 years in ukraine is the fact, that people has realised, that they are on their own. So they should build their own fate without any hope to the help from outside, or from some rich foreigners. Nowadays there is less crime in the streets and the main crimes nowdays are in economy and politics. the most corrupted persons and the most rich ones are in the governement. still ukraine changes alot to the better each year, so to leave here you should be an optimist, otherwise your life here will be ubearable. most of the businessmen hope that we will reach a good level in some 10 years. by now we live in half-barbaric state. but we should change it by our own efforts. i was always bad in writing essays. best regards |

Tracey,
Zhuk is absolutely right on the mark. He said it all in few words. Give us an e-mail address (code it, you know, spell out "dot" and what have you) and I'll drop you a line, if you wish. But you may have gotten all you need from Zhuk. He's exactly right (Good essay, Zhuk! Pyatyorka!). But the most important thing is the "expectation" part. The young people here "expect" nothing from government. Each person has to figure out their own way to create a life for themselves. I think people are kinder to one another now here.
