Yes, Vanya is correct, all it added up to was the radar detected firing from one part of Basra into another, which could be interpreted in a number of ways, but our media got excited (bless 'em) and the "popular uprising" was born.
I can see the "disarming" and "regime change" happening, but the installation of a "democratic & pro-US" regime in it's place seems less likely by the minute. Maybe one or the other but not both. |

Someone's gone a bit quiet lately...
I wonder what Osama's up to? I know he released that statement mocking the US and giving his gardening tips to the Iraqi people, but now Saddam is getting all the applause.
He's a bit of an attention-seeker our Osama, and I see Afghanistan is warming up again, what's the betting he does a bit of limelight-grabbing in the next few weeks? |

Sheez. These fickle capitalists. Not that many years ago, Rumsfeld was making deals with bin Laden's family for a pipeline.
The recruitment effort for new al-Quaeda troops is in full swing. Bush's war must be causing long lines at the recruiting offices for suicide bombers, "no experience necessary". Yes, attention is back on Afghanistan as a couple special forces types got snipered. Strange thing to happen in that new "democracy" the US built there, huh? Brit soldiers throw candy to kids along the roads. The kids throw the candy back, plus rocks.
