I can remember this womans name coming up a few years ago as a chance of becoming the US president.
I will do another search on her to find out more about her. February 13, 2003 Mosely-Braun to Run Former Senator Mosely-Brown is going to officially enter the race for president Former Sen. Carol Moseley-Braun of Illinois said Wednesday that she intends to formally enter the 2004 Democratic presidential race next week and target her campaign toward women voters and party activists who oppose the prospect of war with Iraq. "As the only woman candidate, I hope to have a voice that this war is counterproductive and not consistent with protecting our security here or abroad," Moseley-Braun said in an interview. "The Congress abdicated their responsibility." She is absolutely correct on that score, but I really don't see her being a force. First, there is the question of her campaign financing: After Moseley-Braun spent $6.7 million to win the Senate race in 1992, the Federal Election Commission opened an investigation into the finances of her campaign, which faced allegations of runaway spending. In addition to taking out a $10,000 loan to pay personal expenses, she and her campaign manager withdrew $69,000 on credit cards. An FEC audit ultimately concluded that her bookkeeping practices were sloppy, but did not levy a fine or penalty against her. Second, she did lose her Senate seat, and there were questions at the time of her cozying up to a Nigerian dictator. If I remember correctly, there turned out to be substantially less there than was first alleged, but she can expect those two issues to come up repeatedly. On the other hand, she is an African American candidate who will not be seen, as Sharpton is, fairly or not, running exclusively for the African American vote. Perhaps she can help the press get past its "African American Candidate" labels, or pave the way for that to happen in 2008. She can also be a fiery speaker, and is absolutely correct on the issue of Iraq. The combination may inspire people to come to the polls, and thus, force the other candidates to deal with the issues. All in all, I think she will be good for the process, and I hope she makes the most of it. Posted by Kevin at February 13, 2003 09:21 AM |

There are questions surrounding Mosely-Braun's judgment, and many regard her as being a lightweight senator who capitalized on her athletic career. It would be nice to see a good female step into the arena.
Most important is that the loyal opposition find someone who can win. These thugs that operate out of Bush's office are embarrassments. Thus far his gang has savaged the economy, stripped civil rights, hidden information, and lied repeatedly to Americans and the world about their intentions. The Iraq-al-Quaeda link is a fraud, and everything connected to this hasty war has a bad odor. America is now among the least-trusted countries on Earth, for the best of reasons: It went out of its way to tell the world that it doesn't stand by its agreements. The US even bailed out on its very recent promises to Afghanistan. It resorts to bullying its friends when they don't agree. Germany is going to be punished for acting according to the wishes of its populace. Keep in mind, the US is not under attack. If it were, Germany and France would be there in a second. The US press has been muzzled as the media conglomerates all have business pending before the FCC, and they have been told that there will be no happiness for them if they bite George. I lived there a long time, and am greatly saddened to see what appears to be a takeover by right-wing thugs.

Everyone here knows that M-B is not a real player in the leadership issue, I think Kevin was just winding us up. As for the current administration you have it about right, with one exception. Condeleza Rice is a super star. For now she is muzzled by the idiot she works for, but mark my words. "we will hear her name" in the future.
Of all the women on the scene right now, she is the one I would put my money on as being the first woman to win the White House. Len |

Irinka,
Please excuse me for initially ignoring your post. I understand your reason but unfortunately an american president is elected in a popularity contest not a legitimate political race. It was easy for him to win considering the opposition, and he only just did it then. You would have to be a long way from grass roots america to believe he is a good leader. If there should ever be a real opposition candidate he wont have a chance for a second term. Len |
