As for the Balkan (peninsula) I'll be going to Macedonia later in the year, my only contact with Kosovo was a lad working with the army, but he went crackers last spring and no-one knows where he's gone, including his missus
.As for the invented genocide, the motive for them inventing it involves mind-reading so it's obviously open to speculation. The important, incontrovertible fact is that they invented it. As lies go, "f***ing enormous" seems an accurate description. You said that "I wish I had the information available to the Bush/Blair administration but I dont." I don't know if this was covered in the US but Blair read out to a hushed Parliament (in his emotional oscar-acceptance style) the "Intelligence Dossier" on human rights abuses in Iraq. Unfortunately it contained the old wives tale about Uday whipping the feet of the losing Iraq football team - long ago proven to be false. When this was pointed out Blair just started stammering like a flustered schoolboy - great comedy but it shows they probably know next to f*** all (so your wish has come true ).----------------------------------------------------------- Regarding our Kosovo allies, they recently hacked a lad to death in the middle of my town (in England) to punish him for rescuing one of their girls. He helped her on the flimsy excuse that they had chopped the ends of her fingers off when she tried to escape them before. Controversial this opinion may be, but I don't have a high opinion of our leaders for licking these people's boots. Here is, on face value, a rare, grown-up internet site about the 1999 bombing (and other matters): http://www.bhhrg.org/CountryReport.a...8&CountryID=20 |

Gunner,
Sorry, my last post was done on the fly from a clients office. I'm back home now. The Kosovo book is by Noel Malcome (he lives in London) the ISBN 0-06-097775-2 its a 99 edition. Unfortunately the only library here (the north Goergia mountains) has nothing so I have to buy anthing I wish to read. If you cannot find it I'll be happy to mail you my copy - on loan. He's also done one on Bosnia but I dont have that one. You know, there are so many conspiracy theories flying around, I seldom buy in. You want to believe that there was no genecide - go ahead, I'm not with you on that. I'm not so niave that I believe that politicians are not full of s..t and lie like hell. B&B included. But generally if you can claw through the bs there uis oft times some truth to be found. As I said on page 2 of this thread I'm not convinced that war is the right option with Iraq. I'm also not convinced that it not the right option. You are going to Macedonia. Good for you let is know what its like. I used to drive through there on my way to Thessalonika, but that was three decades ago and it was Yugoslavia then. So I have no idea what its like. The UN bombing - I dont know how the serbs are dealing with it but it realy messed up the economy at the other end of the Danube in Romania. Len |

Zenjavajive, I always like your replies. You actually know something. In addition to your comments, the Serbian excursion screwed up (is still screwing up) the economies of every nation using the Danube for shipping, and that is not limited to just those countries on its shores.
The US has a peculiarly compliant press right now, dominated by reactionaries with very strange agendas. The continued relatively high popularity of Bush, despite falling poll numbers, is evidence of a badly misinformed public there. The Democratic opposition can't find a "voice" because they have consumed much of their credibility trying to look like Bush Republicans. America right now is a one-party dictatorship by default. It's traditional allies are pulling their punches, as they say, because they don't want to tick the Bush gang off too much: The bush gang is very vindictive. As the famous TV show says, "The truth is out there", but you have to look for it. Try http://www.buzzflash.com for illumination and sheer exhilaration. It's a compendium of articles that together shine a bright light on the lies.

I appreciate your comments; I am always reassured to hear from people who 'don't trust their own government'... generally a pretty good stance for all of us... but right now, particularly in the USA. However, I would invite you to expand your comments.. I am a little unsure of the statement "would you vote against your wallet!!".. Do you mean that the Bush Regime is sort of promising that if they carry out this war with Iraq, there will be more money flowing into the USA? Or do you mean that there will be more oil? or do you mean that the Bush Administration has control of your wallets?... please say more...
