My opinion on this:
First, I believe Chechnya has no inherent right to leave Russia. Sencondly, I believe the last thing Russia wants is another crime state/muslim extremist state on their border. The Chechnyans should stabilize their government and achieve some unity before they excise themselves from Russia. If they break-off without a solid game-plan, they will end up in ruins. |

The Russocentric lands of eastern Ukraine, Crimea, Trans-Dniester and the northern half of Kazakstan (south Siberia) have a greater right to independence than Chechnya, which has been a part of Russia for well over a hundred years and was never an independent entity unto itself. Much of Chechnya consists of Cossack land that the Communists had brutally usurped.

Well Chechen republic is to stay Russian because of one good reason staying as the part of Russian Federation there's a chance for Chechen people to protect their interests.Even grand-granddaughter of imam Shamil (who fought Russian troops for 20 years in Daghestan in 19th century)says that Chechens will be better protected if Chechnya remains the part of RF.
